CHAP Sets New Compliance Program Standards, Effective June 1, 2024
[Arlington, 05/01/2024] – Effective June 1, 2024, for surveys on and after August 1st, the Community Health Accreditation Partner (CHAP) will implement new compliance program standards into its standards of excellence.
All organizations within CHAP’s accreditation scope—home health, hospice, home infusion therapy, DME, home care, and pharmacy services—will be required to meet these new compliance standards as part of their accreditation.
Given the rise in federal oversight, including new regulations and rigorous audits, CHAP’s updated standards will equip accredited organizations to better navigate the complexities of the healthcare landscape while minimizing risks associated with non-compliance.
The implementation of these compliance standards underscores CHAP’s proactive approach to fostering an ethical healthcare environment, ensuring that organizations not only deliver high-quality care but also adhere to the highest standards of operational integrity and compliance.

Founded in 1965, CHAP was the first to recognize the need for and value of home and community-based care standards and accreditation. As a Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)–approved accrediting organization, CHAP surveys organizations providing home health, hospice, and home medical equipment services to establish if Medicare Conditions of Participation and DMEPOS Quality Standard are met and recommend certification to CMS.
